Receding Gums – What Is That?
Receding gums, also known as gingival recession, is a condition which causes the gums to retract from the base of the teeth. The condition is usually triggered by inflammation and can affect anyone regardless of age. Although not life-threatening, gum recession can progress over time and cause loss of teeth, which is a major aesthetical problem.
Gum recession might also cause pockets between the teeth and gum line where bits and pieces of food might get stuck. As they accumulate, bacteria can build up inside, resulting in inflammation, swelling, and pain. It’s not about poor oral hygiene – studies have shown that gum recession can affect people with perfect and poor oral hygiene both. No matter the cause, the problem must be fixed quickly as it can destroy the supporting tissue in the structure of the teeth which can lead to tooth loss, and no one wants that.
With that being said, there are many natural ways of treating and preventing gum recession that you can use instead of paying hundreds to dentists.
